The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
- My first book review

Review: Violet Ambrose used to find the bodies of dead animals, but when she was eight years old and she found a murdered girl, she started to be able to find the bodies of dead people as well. What I like - and found very original - was how the Violet finds the bodies. She doesn't just 'know' that they're there; she hears an "echo" which are visual or auditory clues that the body makes so that she can find them. That is something that I have never read before and I always look for originality of novels, so that alone earns this book a star.

So in this book there is a serial killer killing teenage girls and Violet is the police's only hope to find the killer. What I like in this book is that the majority of the book is written in the 3rd POV, but there are some chapters written in the POV of the killer and it's written in italics so you don't get confused. The killer is very realistic and doesn't give away any clues as to who he is and throughout the book I had to keep on guessing who the killer was. Although I was suspicious of one of the characters who did turn out to be the killer, it didn't ruin the book because I wasn't 100% sure.

The love interest in this book is a boy called Jay - who is also her best friend - and he has known about Violet's 'gift' from the very beginning. I'm not keen on romance, but what I like about these two characters is that they knew each other ever since they were children, so it's not just another typical cliché where the characters fall in love after knowing each other for a day or two...

The reason why I haven't given it 5 stars is because at the end the author kind of forgets about the whole serial killer plot, and concentrates on the feelings that Violet and Jay have for each other...I had to keep skipping those parts, but that was just because I'm not really a romance fan. If you are a fan of romance, then you will thoroughly enjoy the end.

Oh and there's a fantastic cliffhanger at the end :)
This book is pretty good, but I will not be buying the sequel: Desires Of The Dead.

My review summary? If you are a big fan of romance, then this novel is for you. I also suggest it if you like interesting characters and murder mysteries.

I rate this book
